As we set off again
across this vast glacier, 3000 miles square,
I can’t help thinking about the sober fact that every year
we’re losing glaciers like this at a truly alarming rate,
which makes this both an exhilarating ride and a sort of guilt trip.
If I’m honest.
It’s warm.

I was thinking it was going to be freezing cold up here.
Yeah, but the sun is shining.
The wind’s not bad. No.
And all this all this under there, is just deep, deep, thick ice.
I mean, are we taking a colossal risk or is this relatively safe?
Of course, we have passed a few crevasses, but they are covered
with snow, so it’s easy for the snowmobiles to pass them.
This valley is full of ice and flowing
in a very, very slow kind of a way. Yes.
And carving out the rock as it goes, is that how it works?
The easiest way to explain is to grab a chocolate bar.
Oh, not just any chocolate bar, my favourite kind of nutty chocolate bar.
Super nice.
Take this chocolate bar, split it, and you can see how the chocolate goes
into a crevasse.

And below we have the caramel that is flexible and nice.

Yeah.
Our town
is famous for the lobster.
The coastline around Iceland is basically lava and rocks.
And the lobster that we have here is the one that builds
a labyrinth on the bottom of the ocean with sand and clay.
Yeah. In front of the glacier
we have got plenty of sand and clay.
So the lobster say, “come on over here.
It’s just how we love it.”
Yeah, basically, this is the lobster area in front of the glacier.
That’s delicious.
I’ll have to look out for lobster on the
on the menu. Oh,
