my name’s Bertie Gregory and I’m a 22
year old wildlife cameraman hey there
and I’ve traveled to the west coast of
Vancouver Island for the next three
months I’m going to be tracking down
some of the biggest sexiest most
charismatic animals that call this place
their home and I’ve caught up in the air
to get a lay of the land and the view is
absolutely incredible
it’s one of the last places on the
planet where a wild band still meets a
wild ocean and the result is an epic
landscape jam-packed with some of the
most impressive predators on the planet
I’ve been to this island before but it’s
only really from the air that I’m
starting to get my head around how this
ecosystem fits together
but it wasn’t any of these stunning
animals that brought me back here
I first fell in love with this place
back in 2011 when a wildlife tour guide
took me under his wing he taught me how
to find all the animals on the coast but
one animal in particular stood out from
the rest
a female coastal wolf the leader of her
pack and mother to a litter of pups her
pack survives off the ocean after 90
percent of their diet comes from the
water spending time with this female
coastal wolf was just absolute magic
about six months after returning home to
England I received a pretty horrifying
message that same wolf had been shot and
thrown away in a coastal village
dumpster when I saw that message that’s
when I knew I had to return to Vancouver
Island to to show just how incredible
these wolves really are
and that’s why for the next three months
I’ll be on the ground hiking through
temperate rainforest this is actually
really really comfy should I just leave
you here for a bit setting up camp this
is kind of our main area we’ve rigged up
this big part to keep us dry it’s been
absolutely hooning it down the last few
days I guess that comes with being in a
temperate rainforest going mad in hides
if it was easy
someone would have probably sat here
before and cruising the open ocean it’s
strange to think that you have to battle
through giant waves to try and film a
wolf along the way I’ll be tracking down
the other species that make up this
crazy ecosystem epic are you looking up
from bald eagles and I’ve got a
slow-motion camera that’s gonna slow
down whatever I film it’s gonna be the
winds gonna be blowing in their feathers
to bears
see lines to salmon and whales to the
elusive coastal wolf on the beach
multiple wolf tracks for multiple
individuals whoa
every week I’ll be bringing you up close
and personal to some truly spectacular
animals body is the bear behind you
bear behind you
I hope you join me it’s going to be
absolutely absolutely absolutely
absolutely absolutely absolutely
incredible lies one of the coolest
things I have ever seen I am so pumped
