France has shattered Morocco’s hopes of becoming the first African and Arab Nation to reach the World Cup final they put up quite a fight-dominated possession but a clinical France won two nil the defending Champions will now meet Argentina in the final on Sunday both teams are hoping for their third world cup trophy Ollie Foster reports from Doha what a final it should be on Sunday between the reigning Champions France and Lionel Messi’s Argentina the French winning 2-0 here in the second of the semi-finals at the L bate Stadium against Morocco the Moroccans have been the story of the World Cup but it’s the end of the road for them the French took the lead very early on Theo Hernandez with a scissor kick from a very tight angle after a Killian mbappe shot had deflected and fell to him kindly but Morocco were never really out of this match Jawad El yamik had an overhead kick that hit the base of a post France were always in a game here they knew they couldn’t be complacent they’d seen Morocco’s progress throughout this tournament finishing top of their group head of Croatia and Belgium beating Spain beating the Portuguese leaving Cristiano Ronaldo in tears so France were on their guard against Morocco and it wasn’t until late on uh that they uh scored their second goal inside the last 10 minutes uh The Substitute with a pretty much his first touch of the game he benefited from another amazing bit of work from Killian mbappe and it was his deflected shot that fell to him at the far post uh Randall Colo Milani with his first International goal France winning two-nil even in injury time Morocco pushed for a goal that they really deserved but this historic March to the semi-finals the first African nation here the first Arab speaking Nation to get this far that is at an end although they will have to lift themselves because they have another match to play the one that no Nation wants to play at a World Cup the third fourth playoff they’ve got Croatia on Saturday and I just hope for all the tens of thousands of Moroccan fans who have made their way to Qatar after this incredible run that Morocco have had they hang around and pack out the Khalifa into International state to give Morocco a truly great send-off but our attention’s really now focuses on Sunday as we look to the reigning Champions France to see if they can make it back-to-back titles no team has done that until since Brazil back in 58 and 62 or will it be a third title for Argentina France against Argentina it should be a brilliant final or as we’re going to call it for the next three days or so it will be messy against umbape Ollie Foster well Shima Khalil has been speaking to Moroccan fans in Doha after the match Morocco beat the odds and a number of football Giants to get to this stage but in the semi-finals they lost to the defending world champions France two nil it was a tough game it was close at times but France just had the better finishes and Morocco despite many chances just could not find the net for the fans here it’s mixed feelings tonight I mean of course you would have loved them to make it to their finest but it’s okay I think we are very proud of our team they have really played very hard they were kind of a surprise of this World Cup they were fully engaged in the game we’re very happy with them and they were sure that well at least we are one of the fourth best teams in the world today and I’m sure that will make it better next time inshallah well we’re not as important we’re very proud of our team they do the great game since the beginning they made a believe in our country they but they they were like I don’t know how to say but it’s not they didn’t just represent Morocco but all the Arabs country and African country we are disappointed by the result but this is the football there is a winner and the loser our players are very strong technically and also mentally very last reason to touch is what was missing and if we had it I think we could have done something better but any case getting into this stage of the competition is already a big achievement we’re very proud very happy regardless of the results Morocco made history in this tournament they are the first Arab and African team to get this far into a World Cup they’ve inspired hundreds of thousands if not millions of fans across the Arab world and Africa who’ve backed them throughout this team has proven itself to be a worthy opponent a formidable Force among the powerhouses of this game that’s Shima Khalil in Doha and a lot more coverage from there in the forthcoming days of the fourth the final and the final itself
