Flying Airplanes with “Weird But True!” | Weirdest, Bestest, Truest

CHARLIE: Hey guys! Charlie here, your Weird But True guy with, uh, this lady Kirby. How are you doing today?
KIRBY: I’m great how are you?
CHARLIE: Today we’re hanging out at Ocean… KIRBY: County…
CHARLIE: Airport. In New… KIRBY: Jersey.
CHARLIE: We came here to fly this thing.
KIRBY: We wanted to learn all about flying for our planes episode, so we got a lesson from an expert, Jim Lonergan.
CHARLIE: Whooooooaaaaaaaa.Hahahaha! Whooooooaaaaaa!
KIRBY: We got to fly in his plane, and you got to fly it!
CHARLIE: Yes, it was crazy.
KIRBY: I have a question.  How is it different than other planes?
CHARLIE: This plane is interesting because it’s a bi-plane, and it’s yellow, and it was used to train people who flew planes in World War II, which was a long time ago but it’s still functional. And the coolest thing about it is, it’s like those special cars that they teach people how to drive in, where two people can sit in ’em and control it at the same time. So, if one person is like flying all over the place, the other person, in this case Jim, can kinda like, control it. Filming this episode was so complicated cause we had to set up six cameras to capture all the angles while we were up in the air.
KIRBY: How was flying?
CHARLIE: It was, very crazy. I’ve never been more nervous in my life. My eyes have never been wider in my life. And I was really freaking out and it felt like a dream and it wasn’t real. Ooh…Whew…Ha, ha.
JIM: That’s it. Alright, keep her straight.
CHARLIE: It’s kinda like riding a bike because when you steer it’s not like a lot. You don’t go to the right or left it’s just like little nudges in every direction.
JIM: It’s not hard at all. As a matter of fact, you can fly with just two fingers holding on to the stick. Nice and easy.
CHARLIE: Yeah? JIM: Yup.
CHARLIE: Okay. How are you doing today?
KIRBY: Um, when we were driving down the runway I was nervous.
CHARLIE: Yeah.
KIRBY: You were nervous. I was nervous.
CHARLIE: Yeah.
KIRBY: And then, when we took off it was so smooth. It was like the air below us was just lifting us up nice and lightly in the air. And it was so smooth and wonderful. I was not scared at all.
CHARLIE: So Kirby, the viewers gotta know, they’re asking. You’ve dived with sharks… You’ve been on really scary rollercoasters…
KIRBY: Whoooaaaaa
CHARLIE: How does this rank?
KIRBY: It wasn’t scary.
CHARLIE: No? KIRBY: Nope.
CHARLIE: Nah, Was it exciting?
KIRBY: It was very exciting and I would do it right now.
CHARLIE: Alright, that’s the news! You heard it from me Charlie and…
KIRBY: Kirby.
CHARLIE: Jim is the man. He is so great. So fun.
We’ll see you guys next time.
Weird but True out!
